LAST DAY OF SCHOOL — Junior Year
13 June 2012
Today was the best school day of my life. It was the last full day of school and I was expecting the worst day in school history. The last few days were really boring and lonesome. I’m so glad it ended like this.
Before school started today, I was prepared to say ‘hi’ for the first time to the girl of my dreams. I wore my favorite plaid shirt and cologne. I even brushed my teeth twice in a row, plus after eating breakfast. I rushed to the bus stop five minutes earlier, just to be 100% certain that I’ll make it on the bus. When we arrived at school, I bolted straight to homeroom. I was not going to miss my big opportunity. After ten minutes of waiting, I realized that she was not coming today. No one can describe how pissed I was. I was overly excited for absolutely no reason at all. I went through every period bored and lonely once again.
Seventh period (the only class I have with the girl of my dreams), as I held the door for my classmates, I saw her. My mind went all Ric Flair for hours. The closer she got, the harder my heartbeat.
We were just one foot apart when I finally said “Hey, I thought you weren’t in school today”.
I forgot what she said because I was overly excited. Seconds later, she asked me if I want to play cards. I did not hesitate to accept the offer. Though I lost almost every game, I had a wonderful time with her. The last full day of school was the first time we had a conversation and the best time of my life.
Future me -
Ahh, how the simple things in life brought you so much joy. I would be lying if I said she wasn’t a great person. But you can’t grant someone you haven't talked to before the title of the girl of your dreams. There are plenty more dreams to come. Some which will wind up being a nightmare.
